Madison Symmetric Torus

The Madison Symmetric Torus, or MST, produces plasmas in either reversed field pinch (RFP) or tokamak geometries.
The MST device gives users access to a well characterized toroidal plasma with a comprehensive suite of diagnostics. It has a unique construction, with an aluminum shell which serves as both the vacuum vessel and the equilibrium magnet. The device typically uses deuterium gas puff injections to fuel plasmas, but other gas species like hydrogen and helium are also available.
